Arianespace to launch AZERSPACE/AFRICASAT 1A

Arianespace announced today that it has signed a contract with International Relations and Accounting Center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan to launch the country’s first communications satellite by the end of 2012.

Eutelsat statement on W3B loss

Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) announces the loss of the W3B satellite following an anomaly which was detected with the propulsion subsystem after its launch by an Ariane 5 rocket.

W3B and BSAT-3b are orbited

October 28, 2010 – Ariane Flight 197

The fourth Ariane 5 mission of 2010 successfully delivered Eutelsat W3B and Bsat 3B satellites to geostationary transfer orbit today, marking the 53rd flight for Arianespace’s heavy-lift workhorse and its 39th consecutive success.

XM-5 successfully launched

BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, October 15, 2010

International Launch Services (ILS) have successfully launched the XM-5 satellite today on an ILS Proton for SIRIUS XM Radio, America’s satellite radio company. After a 9 hour 12 minute mission, the Breeze M successfully released the XM-5 satellite, weighing over 5.9 metric tons, into GTO.

ILS to launch Asiasat 7

RESTON, Va. / Hong Kong, October 5, 2010

International Launch Services (ILS) and Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co. Ltd. (AsiaSat) announced a contract to launch AsiaSat 7 on an ILS Proton from Baikonur. The satellite is currently under construction by Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, California and is scheduled to be launched in 2011.
