Lifting off on time from the Spaceport in French Guiana at 5:38 p.m., the heavy-lift Ariane 5 successfully orbited the ST-2 and GSAT-8 satellites.

Intelsat New Dawn and Yahsat Y1A launched

April 22, 2011 – Ariane Flight VA201



A heavy-lift Ariane 5 successfully orbited a record payload mass of 10,050 kg. with Yahsat Y1A and Intelsat New Dawn satellites. In a flight conducted from the Spaceport in French Guiana, the Ariane 5 deployed Yahsat Y1A to be operated by the United Arab Emirates’ Al Yah Satellite Communications Company along with Intelsat New Dawn, which was built for the new joint venture of Intelsat and Convergence Partners.

Arianespace to launch Astra 2E

Luxembourg, April 13th, 2011



SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that it has selected Arianespace for the launch of its ASTRA 2E satellite scheduled in the second quarter of 2013.

ASTRA 2E will be positioned at 28.2 degrees East from where it will deliver high-power broadcast services across all of Europe and Africa.
