BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, July 16, 2011



 

The ILS Proton Breeze M launched from Pad 39 at the Cosmodrome at 5:16 a.m. today local time (7:16 p.m. EDT, 11:16 GMT on July 15, 1:16 a.m CET on July 16). After an 8-hour, 1-minute mission, the Breeze M successfully released the SES-3 satellite directly into geostationary transfer orbit. The KazSat-2 satellite, built by Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center (Khrunichev), was delivered directly into geosynchronous orbit after a 9-hour, 24-minute mission.

Arianespace to launch Thor 7

Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) announced that it has signed a contract with Arianespace for launch services of Thor 7 satellite from the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana in Q4, 2013 on an Ariane 5 launcher.

Chinasat 10 - launch success

XICHANG, Sichuan, June 21 (Xinhua), 2011



China successfully launched Chinasat-10 (Zhongxing-10) communication satellite from its Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest Sichuan Province on early Tuesday by a Long March-3B rocket carrier, blasted off from the center at 0:13 a.m. Chinasat-10 was designed and manufactured by the China Academy of Space Technology under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and will provide communication, broadcasting and data transmission services for users in China and the Asia-Pacific region. It will replace Chinasat-5B satellite, which was launched in 1998.

SS/L to launch Thor 7

Palo Alto, Calif. — June 20, 2011



Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) announced today that it was awarded a contract to provide a multi-mission spacecraft Thor 7 for Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc). The satellite will include Telenor’s first Ka-band payload, which will be used for maritime broadband services as well as Ku-band transponders to expand the broadcast capacity in Central and Eastern Europe.
